Dr. Sudheendran Kooriyattil,

            Born in Palakkad District of Kerala in 1978, Mr. Sudheendran has graduated in Physics in 1998 from University of Calicut, and obtained his M.Sc., with a specialization in condensed mater physics in 2000 from Pondicherry central university. He also obtained his M.Phil., in physics from the same institute in 2001. Mr.Sudheendran has pursued his doctoral programme at School of physics, University of Hyderabad and obtained his Ph.D., in 2009. During his PhD programme he has carried out commendable research and developmental activities in the area of ferroelectric and dielectric materials for microelectronic and microwave applications as well as studying the property of materials at microwave frequencies especially in thin film form. He has received many recognitions nationally and internationally during his Ph.D., programme.  In 2006 he has received an Asian student scholarship which was jointly sponsored by the organizing committee of the 5th Asian meeting on electroceramics and IEEE to attend and present his research work at the conference held at Thailand.  In 2008 he has been selected for a Young scientist award by the electronic division of the ceramic society of Japan based on his presentation on microwave characterization techniques for thin films. Sudheendran has received a Senior Research Fellowship from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research in 2008. He has also awarded an international travel grant by the Department of Science and technology in 2008 and Council of Scientific and Industrial research in 2009 for attending international conferences in the area of ferroelectrics and dielectrics.

He has received an independent research grant from FCT, ministry of science and technology Portugal for his post doctoral research at university of Aveiro where he spend 1.5 years as a post doc.He was also nominated by the UGC for a Raman fellowship under Indo-US 21st century knowledge initiative for doing post doctoral research in institute of functional nanomaterials,university of Puertorico,USA. He has got appointed as an Assistant Professor of Physics at the post graduate department of Physics, Sree Kerala Varma College, Thrissur in 2011. He also received a young scientist research grant from the Department of Science and Technology as well as a research grant from UGC. He was recently nominated by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for appointment as UGC Assistant Professor under Faculty Recharge Programme which is  a national level initiative  of the MHRD-UGC empowered committee designed to induct  exceptional candidates with notable record of research in frontier areas of science at Indian Universities

Dr.Sudheendran has so far published more than 60 papers in  international journals and contributed to 3 book chapters and co authored one book.He is a life member of academy of physics teachers and kerala academy of science
