Qualification Candidates should have a first class honours degree (or equivalent) and have completed a relevant doctorate. In addition, candidates should have a proven ability in innovative and effective experimental research in polymer chemistry, templated materials and the characterisation of micro- and nanostructured objects with electron microscopy. Specifically, the desired candidate must have experience the following areas: polymer synthesis (e.g. controlled radical, polycondensation, ring opening, etc.), use of supercritical carbon dioxide for polymer synthesis and processing. Experience in polymer self-assembly and micro- and nanostructure characterisation via a range of techniques including x-ray scattering, scanning and transmission electron microscopy.Good knowledge and skills in the templating of polymeric materials into inorganic structures including use of sol-gel chemistry.
Salary £29799 to £31604 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.
